Oxford SUP Club

What we do?

Developing SUP in Oxfordshire since 2015.

Oxford SUP Club is a not for profit Community Interest Company. We are set up to benefit the community, not shareholders. Whilst we do have a small team of paid staff, any surplus is re-invested to help with development of the club, fund training and purchase new equipment.

We are a laid back, friendly and inclusive stand up paddle boarding Club for people who have either mastered the basics of SUP, or have taken part in a SUP Lesson and want to paddle more regularly, and meet like-minded people for regular social paddles.

The Club is open all year with weekly SUP activity for members. From April to October we are open Tuesday to Sunday, and November to March we are open Friday to Sunday.

If you haven’t paddle boarded before, don’t worry we can get you booked into a beginner session so we can get you up to speed and equipped with the skills you need to join us for SUP Club. Click the button below to book your lesson now.

Our cosy Clubhouse and SUP Club HQ is located at Farmoor Reservoir, just 15 minutes outside of Oxford City centre. Our facilities for SUP Club members are completely unrivalled anywhere in Oxfordshire and include a huge selection of boards and other equipment, changing facilities, members lounge and kitchen area, a training area and our fully stocked SUP Shop.

In the shop we sell inflatable and composite paddle boards, paddles, wetsuits and boots, changing robes, buoyancy aids, SUP clothing, SUP footwear, sunglasses, leashes and more.

All Club members get a 5% discount on everything we sell.

On Sunday mornings we’re on the water at Farmoor Reservoir for our Sunday Social members paddle, which is a chance to catch up with friends, enjoy some fresh air and take advantage of the huge area of safe water we have here at the reservoir. These sessions are suitable for the whole family.

From May 2023 we’ll be launching our Youth SUP Academy which will run alongsode the Sunday Social and is aimed at young people from 12 to 24 yrs and will be run by our senior Instructor team.

Tuesday evenings from May to September we’re open for a social drop in paddle session for members, where you can come along after work or school and paddle on the reservoir until 8pm.

Wednesday evenings are where we get out and about across Oxfordshire for our River Tours. For nearly 10 years now we’ve been running these awesome tours where we explore some of the amazing waterways around the county. Locations change each week but include the River Thames from Donnington Bridge, Wolvercote, Abingdon and Culham, teh River Cherwell from Sunnymead and the Oxford canal from Thrupp.

Thursdays from May to September we’re open all day from 10am for a social drop in paddle sessions where you can come along and paddle on the reservoir until 5pm.

Fridays from April to October we’re open all day from 10am, with lessons running throughout the day. Members can drop in for a social paddle on the reservoir until 8pm. Friday evening we have our Race Team training session from 6-8pm.

On Saturdays from April to October we’re open all day from 10am for a social drop in paddle sessions where you can come along and paddle on the reservoir until 6pm.

For all of these member’s sessions we have boards and equipment available to hire, including wetsuits and buoyancy aids. Club Members get a massive hire discount on all SUP Club sessions, making it just £5 per session for equipment hire, which is on average £20 per hour cheaper than any other SUP hire centre in the country!

We aim to create an environment for SUP enthusiasts to develop their skills, make new friends and enjoy social paddles around Oxfordshire and beyond. Our amazing team of Instructors ensure you are safe and well looked after whenever you are paddling with us, and are always on hand to give you some coaching and support.

A fantastic club set up by a true enthusiast of SUP who has built the club with true passion. Genuinely lovely and supportive team members and safe environment for all skill levels to learn SUP. Fantastic club house, friendly members and well stocked shop. 10/10 would suggest if you’re thinking of trying paddle boarding, this is the place!

SUP race, give it a go….
If you are lucky enough to be able to go to an Oxford SUP race event, would recommend booking it.
Why? I sometimes measure things by how you feel afterwards: – After a race you will feel really satisfied that you have had an express workout and tested yourself a bit, and have been outside/on the water, really glad that you went to the effort and energy to go, inspired by other paddlers and experienced the lovely vibe in the club which is so encouraging, supportive (and yes- fun 😊) and be ready to book the next event straight away! It is the most welcoming club I have ever been in and they will make you feel at ease if it is your first visit to the club or if you are a beginner like me. Here’s to all the lovely paddlers and management team.

Excellent SUP club, they run great socials during the week on the river in Oxford and at weekends often have SUP sessions at the reservoir. Would also highly recommend their lessons – I’ve been to the ready to ride level 1 and also brought this as a gift for two of my friends birthdays – both loved their present and now really enjoy paddle boarding! Cannot recommend the club enough 😊

Andrew and the Oxford SUP Club bring together a deep passion for SUP and a warm and friendly welcome to make for really fun times on the water. With a comfy clubhouse and shop, fantastic access to the water, and careful planning you’ll have a great time whenever you visit. I have enjoyed both organised training and racing events over the past year, happily travelling the 1.5hrs because it’s always worth it. The Oxford SUP Club is a quality outfit for beginners through to experts and I’d happily recommend them to anyone.
