About Oxford SUP Club

Paddle Boarding in Oxfordshire

Oxford's first dedicated SUP School, offering beginners lessons and tailored training for individuals, groups and families.

What is SUP?

SUP stands for ‘Stand up paddle boarding’ and it has fast become the biggest water sport in the World with more people globally enjoying SUP than any other water sport.

There’s a good reason why; it’s great fun, easily accessible for people of all ages and ability, and it’s a healthy way to enjoy the outdoors and experience the unique joy of travel by paddle board.

Why choose Oxford SUP Club?

Oxford SUP Club was founded by Our Head Coach Andrew in 2015, and has been growing and developing ever since.  Andrew is a highly regarded SUP Coach with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Andrew, or ‘Captain’ as he’s often called, is qualified to teach all aspects of SUP from beginner’s lessons to touring, racing and 1-1 coaching. He’s happiest when outdoors and has been enjoying all things adventurous his whole life!

What do we do?

We are a BSUPA (British Stand Up Paddle Boarding Association) approved SUP school. Our instructors are qualified via the BSUPA Instructor Training scheme, and are trained by the UK’s most accomplished SUP paddlers. The sessions we run follow BSUPA’s tried & tested format, and are designed to be safe, fun and enjoyable.

We’re passionate about developing SUP in the UK, and introducing this amazing sport to as many people as possible. Our qualified and experienced SUP instructors will get you on the water and paddling with confidence on your first lesson.

We are proud to be industry leading experts in providing unique and exciting SUP experiences, structured fun and safe beginner SUP lessons,  intermediate and advanced SUP training and a range of SUP events for groups, companies and charities. Everything we do is about enjoyment of the outdoors, living a healthy lifestyle and developing skills to support your mental health and wellbeing.

Where are we?

Oxford SUP Club is based on the two huge lakes at Farmoor Reservoir and we run all of our beginner lessons and training on the water here, with group trips on the River Thames and River Cherwell. Our SUP locations are carefully chosen to take advantage of calm waters with a gentle flow, and minimal river traffic. Locations vary depending on the time of year and river conditions.

What next?

SUP is a really social sport, and it’s an ideal activity to do with family and friends. It can be enjoyed on any flat water, whether it’s a river, lake or canal, and it offers people the enjoyment of a sporting activity, with the relaxing environment of time spent with friends on the water.

The best way to get started with this exciting new sport is to book yourself onto our 2 hour “Ready to Ride” SUP lesson. Once you’ve mastered the basics you’ll be ready to take on some longer river trips, and join us on for our regular SUP Club meetings.

What about equipment?

Here at Oxford SUP Club we only use the best kit available. We believe that if you learn to paddle with really good equipment, you’ll have the best experience and get the most enjoyment out of your time on the water. We work directly with Industry leading suppliers who provide us with top quality equipment that uses the latest technologies available in the sport.

We are proud partners with Starboard SUP, Aztron SUPRed Paddle Co, Naish SUP, STX, Fanatic SUP, Black Project SUPOcean Specific, Palm, Overboard, Prolimit and ION Watersports.
